It is my great hope that this story might inspire people who are so moved to make contributions to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, their Neurology Education and Research Fund, or to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

     These superlative institutions -- both Harvard Medical School teaching hospitals -- are located in Boston, and private contributions enable them to continue their research and to care for patients in need.

     I will be forever indebted to these hospitals, and to their doctors, nurses and therapists, first for persevering to save my life, and then for enabling me to reclaim my life.
